It’s September..how do I know its September? Its because Mince pies and tinsel are for sale - yes folks Christmas is here…in four months time…4 MONTHS. Don’t get me wrong, i’m not a Grinch, I quite like Christmas…but I prefer Halloween which is always given short shrift when it comes to celebration, in fact only the Bargain shops can truly be relied upon to having put their Halloween decor out for purchase as September rolls by. I honestly think Christmas would be more enjoyable if the commercial buildup around it didn’t take up FOUR MONTHS! But you do know that Christmas has more in common with Halloween that you might think…right? You are aware that the fat, jovial figure of Saint Nick that we are all too familiar with was in fact created as a sales tool for Coke? Well it’s true, before 1931 there were many depictions of Santa Claus throughout the world, including a tall gaunt man, an elf and a great many more scarier incarnations. But n 1932, Coca-Cola commissioned illustrator Haddon Sundblom to paint Santa for their Christmas advertising. Those painting established Santa as. Warm, happy individual with human features including rosy red cheeks, a big white beard, twinkling eyes and laughter lines. Stand by my friends, because I am going to make you think of Christmas in a whole new way, the way it traditionally was, and trust me, you have far more to fear that a lump of coal in your stocking (though as the planet burns under the magnifying glass of climate change that comment may not age well) Christmas might today be a time of joy and festivity, but a few centuries before Santa was a thing, much of Europe saw the midwinter as the time when the dead and demonic roamed the frosty countryside. 1. Krampus (Austria and Central Europe) Krampus resembles an anthropomorphic, demonic goat who punishes misbehaving children. He rips out girls’ pigtails, beats children with birch branches and often carries a basket on his back so he can carry off a child of his choosing and consume them for Christmas dinner. 5 December is Krampusnacht – the night where men in homemade Krampus costumes charged around Alpine villages with pitchforks, demanding booze and threatening strangers. Genuine monsters from the fires of Hell would probably have caused less destruction. These 'Krampus Runs' continue today and are a little more organised but still terrifying to witness. Whilst many sinister Christmas characters peaked during the 15th and 16th centuries, interest in Krampus has grown over time. The 19th-century invention of Christmas cards saw an explosion of images of Krampus sent around the world. Krampus Runs have spread to America too and, since 2013, there have been a series of Krampus-related Christmas films, presenting the character as an antidote to over-sentimental festive celebrations. 2. Lussi (Norway) In Norway and Sweden, 13 December is St Lucia’s Day. St Lucia is represented as a beautiful young woman and nowadays the occasion is marked by a a young woman in a white sash representing the Saint roaming the streets with a Health and Safety Officer-baiting crown of candles on her head. However, a few centuries ago Norway celebrated Lucia (or Lussi) in a very different form. For the night before 13 December – Lussi’s Night - was the night when evil spirits and demons rose up to wander the Earth. Children needed to be good and the adults warded off evil by protecting their homes with the sign of the cross. Lussi was portrayed as a hideous demon with tyrannical powers. She rode through the skies on a broomstick accompanied by demons, evil spirits and trolls, spreading mayhem and chaos, destroying property, crops and livestock and kidnapping or killing anyone foolish enough to not be tucked up safely in bed. 3. The Karakoncolos (Bulgaria, Turkey and Serbia) The Karakoncolos is generally portrayed as a cross between the Devil and a Sasquatch. In Turkey, he would stand at street corners on winter nights setting riddles for passers-by. If the traveller gave an answer that included the word ‘black’ they were free to go on their way. If not, he would strike them dead with a single blow. Elsewhere the Karakoncolos’ favourite trick was to disguise their voice to pretend to be someone’s friend or relative and lure their intended victim out into the snow. Sometimes the creature would set them in a trance and leave them to roam free but in Serbia, the Karakoncolos preferred to jump on the victim’s back and use them as a personal taxi service. The exhausted person was only released at dawn. If you invited a Karakoncolos into your house, they would feel compelled to imitate their hosts’ behaviour. If you set fire to silk or thread, the Karakancolos would be tricked into setting fire to its own fur, and would run from the house screaming to find water. 4. The Kallikantzaroi (Greece) In Greece a group of demons called the Kallikantzaroi were said to spend the year underground sawing through the tree of life that ran through the Earth. Each December, when just a single thread held the tree together, the 12 days of Christmas would compel them to come overground and wander the Earth. By their return in January, the tree had repaired itself and they had to start again. Once overground they caused mischief and chaos but, above all, sought to steal any child born over the 12 days of Christmas and turn them into fellow Kallikantzaroi. They could be kept at bay by binding newborn babies in straw and garlic. You could also stop the creatures from getting into your house by placing a colander outside the door. The Kallikantzaroi would be compelled to count the holes but, because the number three is holy in Greek, they would fail to count that number and have to start again. This would occupy them until sunrise, when the house would be safe until darkness fell again. 5. Frau Perchta (Austria and parts of Germany and Italy) In pre-Christian traditions, Perchta was an Alpine Goddess whose particular celebration day coincided with the Twelfth Night. After pre-Christian religions were displaced, she instead became a demonic witch who stalked villages, punishing anyone who dared to displease her. Sometimes she appeared as a mischievous, dishevelled old woman. Alternatively, her appearance could depend on how you perceived her and whether you had pleased her. If you were faithful, obedient and observed her rituals, Perchta would appear to you as a woman of divine beauty. If you angered her she would appear as a demonic, horned monster with a ferocious bloodlust. Perchta would let you be as long as you followed her rituals on Perchta’s night, such as eating a traditional meal and special cakes baked in her honour. Should you fail to do that, she would sneak into your room whilst you slept, slit your belly open and replace your innards with pebbles and straw. The following day, whoever discovered your corpse would assume you had simply died in your sleep. 6. The Yule Lads (Iceland) Many of these creatures served as a metaphors for surviving the horrors of winter and, as Icelandic winters are tougher than most, it is unsurprising it has some of the most creative mythology. The 13 Yule Lads visit houses – one Yule Lad a day – between 12 and 24 December. Nowadays they are depicted as tricksters, each with their own unique form of mischief. Spoon Licker steals wooden spoons to lick off the food residue, Door Slammer slams the doors of the house all night so nobody can rest, and you can probably guess what Sausage Swiper gets up to! Historically, however, the Yule Lads were much more vicious and, in the 18th century, telling stories of the Yule Lads’ behaviour was e a competitive activity as each storyteller outdid the last with shocking tales of the gruesome brutality and gratuitous violence. The tales got so out of hand that, in 1746, a public decree banned “the foolish custom of scaring children with the Yuletide lads and ghosts”. 7. Jólakötturinn or The Christmas Cat (Iceland) If that was not enough, the Yule Lads also had a pet cat, who was perhaps the most terrifying creature of all. The name 'Christmas Cat' might conjure up images of a lovely kitten in a Santa hat but Jólakötturinn, who first appeared in the 19th century, was a huge, ferocious beast with razor-like whiskers, blazing eyes and terrible claws who consumed any child who did not receive new clothes on Christmas Day. So maybe you might want to think twice before complaining about getting socks for Christmas…because someone might just have saved your life! In 1932 the Icelandic poet Jóhannes úr Kötlum wrote a book of Christmas poems for children that - much like Clement Clarke-Moore’s A Visit From St Nicholas in the US or Dickens’ A Christmas Carol in the UK – enshrined Christmas traditions for future generations. His telling of the Yule Lads became the 'official' version and his playful but macabre poem on the Christmas Cat captured the ferocity of the beast and the terror it inspired. In 1987 Björk did her own version of the poem, in one of her earliest solo recordings. 8. Gryla This thrice-married Icelandic giantess lives in a mountain cave near the Dimmuborgir lava fields with her third husband and has extra-sensory powers that allow her to detect misbehaving children in nearby towns. She kidnaps the brats and then cooks them into delicious stew. (It’s her favourite food, always in high supply.) She’s also the owner of Jolakotturinn, the hellacious Yule Cat and mother to the mischievous Yule Lads - both of which are detailed above. I guess terrorising people runs in that family. 9. Perchta In the film Krampus, Perchta is a demented angel doll, but her origins go waaaaay back to Germanic roots in the Early Middle Ages (roughly 500 to 900 A.D.). She has several names throughout Europe (like La Befana and Baboushka) and her reputation ranges from sweet to sadistic, but she’s always described as a domestic goddess—either a beautiful one with snow-white skin or a wrinkled hag with a hook nose and raggedy clothes. She also always has a giant foot that either comes from her endless days working the foot pedals of spinning wheels or from her ability to shapeshift into a goose; in fact, she’s actually the legendary inspiration behind Mother Goose, though she’s not all lullabies and fairy tales. She’s apparently obsessed with cleanliness and good manners; so obsessed that she leaves obedient children and young servants silver coins in their pails. Bad kids, however, get disemboweled; have their innards replaced with garbage, straw and pebbles; and get sewn up to suffer alone in ungodly pain afterwards. Because she loves tidiness, she often carries a broom with her and can also fly. She’s basically a witch, and can be seen at various Christmas celebrations around Europe sharing candies or planning her next ritualistic torture. She also employs horned demons to help her punish bad kids; these creatures are known as Straggele. 10. Straggele These shaggy horned beasts get their kicks by stealing from naughty children and occasionally tearing them to pieces. It’s said that you can avoid their wrath by leaving out some food so that they’ll feast on leftovers rather than your offspring 11. Zwarte Piet If you’ve ever heard of Zwarte Piet (aka “Black Peter”) it has probably been from modern-day blog posts expressing horror at Dutch folks dressing up in blackface as Black Pete. Zwarte Piet was originally conceived of as a chained devil that Saint Nicholas had tamed, tasked with whipping bad kids with birch rods; in the gentler version, he merely leaves bundles of sticks as “gifts”-slash-veiled threats for disobedient kiddos. Eventually, a 19th century schoolteacher described Black Peter as St. Nick’s “frizzy haired Negro” servant, and that unfortunately stuck (though alternate versions refer to him as either a helpful chimney sweep or a slave freed by St. Nick). Though some Dutch citizens claim that Peter’s black skin comes from soot and not from his African or Moorish heritage, an increasing number have become aware of his offensiveness and have either re-imagined him as multi-racial (sans blackface) or abandoned him altogether. Bonus fun fact: there’s also an Iranian version of Zwarte Piet known as Hajji Firuz (or Sir Victor, in English). 12. Hans Trapp Hans Trapp is basically an ultra-scary version of Zwarte Piet and Pere Fouettard from Alsace, France. He started off as a vain, cruel and thoroughly debauched rich man who practiced black magic and worshipped Satan just to increase his wealth and power. When the Catholic Church got wind of him, they brought him before the Pope and excommunicated him. Local townspeople hated and feared him so much that they seized all his money and lands while he was away and then banished him into the forest—a bad move, they’d soon realise. In a shack made of sticks, he grew demented, became obsessed with cannibalism, stuffed his clothes with straw to appear like a scarecrow and then eventually stalked and stabbed a 10-year-old boy with a pointy stick. He carried the boy’s body back to his shack for some good eatin’, but The God struck Trapp dead with a lightning bolt before a single morsel touched his lips. Despite his death, some parents in northeastern France still use the child murderer’s name to get kids to finish their brussels sprouts. 13. Belsnickel Belsnickel’s another one of German Santa’s creepy friends. (Seriously, dude needs to hang out with a better crowd.) Scholars think the Belsnickel is based on the myth of Knecht Ruprecht, but there are a few differences. The Belsnickel visits alone rather than being Santa’s servant. In some versions of the myth, Belsnickel brings Krampus with him. Unlike Knecht Ruprecht, though, he doesn’t particularly care whether or not you’ve been good. He has a sack of treats that he’ll spill out for the kids — but then as they scramble for the gifts, he whips them with a switch, naughty and nice alike. 14. The Grinch The ’50s count as old-timey, right? Sure, the Grinch was created by Dr. Seuss in 1957, and not perhaps steeped in such ancient lore as everything else on this list, but seriously. He’s the anti-Santa, who steals all the Christmas presents and trimmings in one night. Breaking and entering? Lying to children? I think he should get an honourable mention here. 16. The Tomten Don’t let looks deceive you! He might look like a cute little gnome, but you will not want to mess with him. Not only does he possess immense strength, but he does not mess around. He’s a touch unstable and very easily offended — and if you cross him, if you’re lucky you’ll get a hard strike to the ear. Otherwise he might kill your livestock, beat you half to death, drive you insane or kill you with his poisonous bite. But if you treat him well, he’ll protect your household. This is one guy you want on your side. Kind of like a gnomish mafia protection racket. 17. Père Fouettard In French, Père Fouettard literally means “Father Whipper.” His gruesome origin story involves him drugging and slitting the throats of three wealthy children who stayed at his inn. He later dismembered and stewed them in large barrels until Saint Nicholas came around, discovered his deeds and resurrected the kids, compelling Fouettard to repent and become his “helper.” Now, dressed in dark robes, bound in chains, covered in soot and sporting a scraggly mess of hair and a beard, Fouettard helps out on St. Nicholas Day (Dec. 6) by giving lumps of coal and severe whippings to naughty kids. He puts the extra bad ones in the wicker cage on his back, probably to slaughter them and turn them into stew. Fouettard briefly appeared in the U.S. during the 1930s as “Father Flog” or “Spanky.” Alongside his wife, “Mother Flog,” he’d punish ill-behaved kiddies with contrapasso-style punishments like cutting out the tongues of lying children. Ah yes, I am beginning to think that it's a good thing to start celebrating the spooky Santa season early as their is so much to get your teeth into!

I have said much with regards the state of Australia's current (hopefully not for much longer) LNP Government, a government awash with corruption and deeply damaging individuals, a government that tried to cover up rapes and rorts. A government with strong ties to the far right, a government that really excels in every aspect of the toxic triangle that this site seeks to highlight. Now while I could write a long post on why the LNP are so bad and a vote for Morrison is a vote to destroy any future for Australia, I will leave it to JuiceMedia to fully encapsulate whats at stack with their last 2 videos.

I am perturbed. I will say that I have some experience and understanding of what is going on and the measures that need to be taken given I have a background in a number of disciplines within the field of pathology. Not only that, I am a big fan (like many of us are) of apocalyptic movies and TV series like Helix, TWD, FTWD - the list goes on. Right now I am taking issue with the trajectory that Queensland and Australia as a whole is taking in light of this pandemic, now in its third year! I have issues with the new QLD CHO Dr Gerard whose CV of achievements really seems at odds with his approach. I have issues with the drive to make COVID-19 endemic rather than stamp it out - or at the very least suppress outbreaks instead of seemingly welcoming them with opening arms under some misguided belief that we have no other choice. For the first two years of the pandemic, Australia worked hard to contain the virus. Sure, there were outbreaks and hurdles (most of which seemed to emanate from NSW or from holes within the imperfect hotel quarantine system - but it must be said that these were failures on the part of the Federal Government who showed little enthusiasm for upholding their responsibilities in ensuring a built for purpose quarantine system existed. But for the most part ‘Fortress Australia’ worked by use of evidence-based public health measures such as border closures, case finding, contact-tracing, masking, quarantine, social distancing, vaccines and, when needed, lockdowns. Sadly, the weaponisation of lockdown as a point-scoring issue and emotional trigger has led to a conflation of lockdown with all other public health measures by the inept Morrison Government, most of which do not impinge on freedoms - and it has to be said that being inconvenienced isn't the same as a being oppressed, a fact that the RW anti-vaxxer/masker brigade, egged on by idiots like Clive Palmer, Craig Kelly and Pauline Hanson, seem incapable of getting their pea-sized brains around. Denial has been a major theme during the pandemic. Denial of airborne transmission, denial of science, denial of Omicron being serious and denial about what it really means to “live with Covid-19”. The denial of the airborne transmission of SARS-CoV-2 was started by experts on the World Health Organisation infection control committee and allowed all countries to take the easy way out. If hand-washing is all you need, onus can be shifted to “personal responsibility”; if ventilation needs to be fixed, that shifts responsibility to governments and private organisations. Did you know that Australia only actually acknowledged airborne transmission during the Delta epidemic in mid-2021, almost a whole year after the WHO acknowledged it and most people had long since realised this fact. Globally, 18 months was spent on hygiene theatre and actively discouraging mask use. As a result there is low awareness among the general public of the importance of ventilation and masks in reducing their personal risk - and along with it a whole raft of misinformation with regards the use of masks, which have always been a very effective first stage measure with regards virus suppression. At this point I will refrain from making the very obvious commentary with regards QLD opening its border to NSW without an active mask mandate - in fact it took a week or two before QLD’s CHO suggested one, so by this point we had already seen many days of unrestrained spread throughout the community - and once again I was left questioning the CHO’s credentials AND competence - both seemed lacking. We had effective campaigns on hand-washing, but no campaigns of similar effect have been used to empower people to control their own risk with simple measures such as opening a window. People living in apartments are largely unaware of the structural factors that make them high risk for transmission, or of the simple measures to reduce risk - you only have to take a look back and see how many apartment blocks were subject to lockdowns in their entirety (worldwide, not just Australia) The failure to focus on airborne transmission has hampered the ability to control the spread and has endangered health workers. Correcting it is critical to the long-term sustainability of health, business and the economy. How can restaurants recover without a safe indoor air plan that may prevent a lockdown cycle that disrupts and ruins their business? Denial of Omicron being serious suits an exhausted community who just wish life could go back to 2019. Omicron may be half as deadly as Delta, but Delta was twice as deadly as the 2020 virus. Importantly, the WHO assesses the risk of Omicron as high and reiterates that adequate data on severity in unvaccinated people is not yet available. Even if hospitalisation, admissions to intensive care and death rates are half that of Delta, daily case numbers are 20-30 times higher – and projected to get to 200 times higher. A tsunami of cases will result in large hospitalisation numbers. It is already overwhelming health systems, which common colds and seasonal flu don’t. Nor do they result in ambulance wait times of hours for life-threatening conditions. In addition, a tsunami of absenteeism in the workplace will worsen current shortages, supply chain disruptions and even critical infrastructure such as power. The ACTU has called for an urgent raft of measures to address the workforce crisis, but too little too late, the health service is besieged like never before and the Morrison Government have all but abandoned them. As for denial of the risk in children, the majority of vaccine-preventable diseases that we vaccinate children against are mild in most children. Only a small percentage suffer serious complications. Polio and measles are examples where well over 90 per cent of children who become infected do not have severe complications, but in a small percentage there are serious and potentially fatal complications. SARS-CoV-2 is similar. Other than long Covid and multisystem inflammatory syndrome, we are only now learning about other longer-term complications of infection. For instance, there is more than double the risk of developing diabetes in children following Covid-19. A study from the United States showed the virus persisting in the brain, heart, lungs, kidneys and almost every other organ after the initial infection. A rare brain inflammation has been described in adults and children. Another study found a significant drop in cognitive function and IQ in survivors. The virus directly kills heart muscle. It is too early to know if Covid-19 will result in early onset dementia or heart failure in a decade’s time, but the evidence warrants a precautionary approach which isn't the approach being adopted by Australia and many of its states - in fact the ONLY plan they seem to have is ‘Let It Rip’, nd thats not a plan, that’s a recipe for untold levels of disaster. We know some infections have very long-term complications – measles, for example, can cause a rare and fatal encephalitis about 10 years after the initial infection. We should do everything possible to prevent mass infection of children and adults. Denial of the science of epidemiology is widespread, even among “experts”. We are told repeatedly that SARS-CoV-2 will become “endemic”. But it will never be endemic because it is an epidemic disease and always will be. The key difference is spread. As an epidemic disease, SARS-CoV-2 will always find the unvaccinated, under-vaccinated or people with waning immunity and spread rapidly in those groups. Typically, true epidemic infections are spread from person to person, the worst being airborne transmission, and display a waxing and waning pattern such as we have already seen with multiple waves of SARS-CoV-2. Cases rise rapidly over days or weeks, as we have seen with Alpha, Delta and Omicron. No truly endemic disease – malaria, for example – does this. This is the reason governments (should) prepare for pandemics. The propensity for epidemics to grow rapidly can stress the health system in a very short time. Respiratory epidemic infections follow this pattern unless eliminated by vaccination or mitigated by non-pharmaceutical measures. Natural infection has never eliminated itself in recorded history. Not smallpox, which displayed the same pattern over thousands of years, and not measles, which is still epidemic in many countries. Unfortunately, the current strategy is focused solely on vaccines, with no attention paid to other very important measures of control - and we are already seeing how Omicron overwhelms vaccines and is killing people who are double vaccinated, even triple vaccinated in some cases. Vaccines are just one of the tools at our disposal in this fight, to rely wholly on one measure at the expense of others is utterly ludicrous. Eradication occurs when a disease no longer exists in the world – the only example of this in humans is smallpox. Elimination is a technical term and means prevention of sustained community transmission. Countries that met WHO measles elimination criteria, including Australia, still see outbreaks of measles imported through travel, but when elimination is achieved, these do not become uncontrollable. Unlike for measles, however, current vaccines do not provide lasting protection. Masks and other public health measures, like lockdowns and lockouts, are also needed to prevent the recurrent disruption of epidemic waves. There is hope for better vaccines, schedules and spacing of doses, but we must be agile and pivot with the evidence and have an ambitious strategy. The current strategy is focused on vaccines only, with no attention on safe indoor air or other mitigating factors. Instead, we have seen abandonment of test and trace because of failure to plan ahead for the expected explosion of cases. Testing and tracing are pillars of epidemic control, and the WHO has called on countries to strengthen both to deal with Omicron. Australia has done the opposite and the results have been catastrophic. Without adequate case finding (which relies on testing at scale) and contact tracing, we are on a runaway train coming off the rails. Testing allows us to find infected people and isolate them so they do not infect others. Now, during the Omicron wave, testing is a massive failure. Both the federal and New South Wales governments made a conscious decision to “let it rip”, but failed to plan for adequate TTIQ (test, trace, isolate, quarantine) capacity. Instead, when it was clear testing capacity was exceeded, they restricted testing to a small fraction of people. Very few people are now eligible for a polymerase chain reaction test (PCR), and rapid antigen tests (RATs) are in short supply. While it has improved the optics by hiding the true scale of cases, this has allowed unfettered transmission. Contact tracing is routinely used for many serious infections such as tuberculosis, meningococcal disease, measles or hepatitis A. It is conducted because close contacts are at highest risk of becoming infected next, and if they are not identified and quarantined they will go on to infect others and cause exponential epidemic growth. Contacts need to be traced within 24-48 hours to stop them infecting others. A range of digital contact-tracing methods such as apps, QR codes and tracking digital footprints through other means can be used when case numbers are high. Yet NSW has removed and flip-flopped on QR codes. Denial of the reality of “living with Covid-19” has seen us rush headlong into letting it rip in a largely un-boosted population, with kids aged five to 11 unvaccinated, without any planning for increased testing, tracing or even procurement of promising new drugs to face the numbers that will come. The booster program has not been expedited, with on Friday less than 17 per cent of the population aged 18 and over having had a third dose, and two doses barely protective against symptomatic infection with Omicron. So Omicron has caused business and hospitality to suffer mass cancellations. Mass absenteeism has crippled supply chains, affecting food, diesel, postal services and almost every other industry. The first serious impacts will be in regional and remote Australia. We saw it in July, when vaccine supplies slated for remote towns were diverted to Sydney, leaving Wilcannia, in the far west of NSW, a sitting duck for the epidemic to come. Many do not understand “public health” and equate it with provision of acute health care in public hospitals or confuse it with primary care. Public health is the organised response by society to protect and promote health, and to prevent illness, injury and disability. It is a core responsibility of government. Public health comprises three components. The first is “health protection”, such as the banning of smoking in public places, seatbelt legislation or emergency powers that allow pandemic control measures such as lockdowns. “Health promotion” refers to the process by which people are enabled to improve or control their health, through the promotion of mask use, for instance. The third component – “disease prevention and early detection” – includes testing, surveillance, screening and prevention programs. Vaccination programs are an example of disease prevention. During the pandemic we have seen resources committed to surge capacity for clinical medicine, but there has been a lack of understanding of the need for public health surge capacity, including TTIQ. The price was paid in the Victorian second wave in 2020. Now, with the abandonment of contact tracing and restrictions on testing during the Omicron wave, we are seeing what happens when this capacity is ignored by government. Another outcome of these failures are the unscientific theories being pushed in many countries – such as the argument for “herd immunity by natural infection”, which has become a household narrative during the pandemic despite four pandemic waves providing little protection to date. The same people who peddled herd immunity by natural infection had no ambition to achieve herd immunity by vaccination. Instead they tell us “we have to live with Covid-19” and fall back on negative, defeatist messaging. The least ambitious goal of vaccination is to prevent us from dying, and that is the low bar set in Australia. This has reduced policy outcomes to a false binary of dead or alive. There is no concern in this for First Nations people, the disabled, people with chronic medical conditions, people in remote Australia or even children, who are being sent back to school at the peak of the pandemic while primary-schoolers are largely unvaccinated. The hundreds of aged-care outbreaks pass without comment in what essentially has become survival of the fittest and richest. The vaccine game is dynamic and ever-changing. Some countries have used ambitious, determined, organised strategies for vaccination and adapted quickly as the evidence has changed. We know the mRNA vaccines can greatly reduce transmission, but current vaccines were developed against the original Wuhan strain and, even after two doses, efficacy wanes. Omicron-matched boosters are in the wind, a seed of hope and a reason to be ambitious, but that will require agile vaccination policy. There is a massive vaccine and drug development effort, so it is almost certain we will have better vaccine options, including ones that are variant-proof. But what the past month has shown us is we cannot live with unmitigated Covid-19. Vaccinations will not be enough. We need a ventilation, containment and quarantine measure in place and vaccine-plus strategies to avoid the disruptive epidemic cycle, to protect health and the economy, and to regain a semblance of the life we all want and making this virus endemic will just not do that. With the economy tanking and unofficial lockdowns in place, all opening the borders really did was demonstrate how woefully prepared this Morrison Government was - but we didn't need that latest lesson, as the Federal Governments utter incompetence and complacency has been on display throughout every twist and turn of this 2 year old pandemic already. Lest we forget that we have a PM in Scott Morrison that just told everyone a couple of weeks ago to ‘take personal responsibility’, and then decries them for doing exactly that when under his stewardship Australia faces the greatest Covid catastrophe it ever has in the last two years - he tries to belittle people and tells them not to fear the virus. Risk assessment and accountability ISN’T fear, but this is something that the worst PM Australia has ever had will never understand, for here is a man that has spent his entire tenure in the job just shirking his responsibilities and blaming every one else - so we can hardly be surprised that his reprehensible government has thrown Australia under the bus once more and then blamed us for being run over. As an additional note, in QLD as in the rest of Australia, schools are due to return after the Summer break. Now back before the border opened here in QLD, we had to deal with a couple of Delta variant surges in schools. This saw schools being locked down and thousands of people having to go into isolation - it got so bad that a surgeon had to get special permission to leave quarantine in order to perform life saving heart surgery. Bear in mind though, this was back when QLD has a plan, when contact tracing was a thing and peoples health and wellbeing were put above that of a viral spread. Now there is no plan, or at best a superficial plan. Thousands of schools are to go back to face to face learning during an Omicron surge (which is FAR more transmissible than Delta) and an under vaccinated cohort of children will be placed at the front line of this virus surge. Now it is widely accepted that 3 vaccinations is a must (and really should be mandatory) now at best a small proportion of kids will have had 2, though the vast majority will only have had 1. Even when QLD had a plan it saw hundreds of essential workers being taken out of circulation, now that they keep redefining what it means to be a ‘close contact’ they are only ensuring that the most vulnerable of our community will be left dangerously exposed and that the impact of having no plan at all will be paid in the cost of human lives. I despair, I really do. For the real truth of it is, if we as a country never mind the entire world cannot come together as one in an effective response to dealing with this pandemic, what hope have we got when it comes to ‘staring down’ and actually dealing with a REAL problem like climate change? God help those peanut brained snowflake RW anti-realists then when we really are in brown trouser/bicycle clip mode! For there is the every growing reality that we will all soon graduate from big screen apocalypses to the real thing. And on that cheery note…. I bid you all adieu, at least I come a-knockng next time…

I can cope with CoVID. I can cope with (or at the very least find a way to deal with) lockdowns and restrictions. I am OK with scanning in whenever I go somewhere. I am quite content to wear a mask whenever I leave the house - although I have to say that having spent most of this year wearing a mask I can fully appreciate why the likes of Michael Myers and Jason Voorhees never actually run after their victims! But what I am absolutely 100% done with is the heights of stupidity that has come about during the pandemic. Yes, there are few things more likely to make my blood boil right now than when I read or hear a report of the next idiotic thing that has occurred during this already trying time. I should perhaps apologise for any language I use within this post, for while it is not my intention to drop more F-bombs than Samuel L Jackson, I cannot guarantee an occasional one wont slip by, such is the strength of my feeling with the lies and inconsistencies that are being spread tight now.. The FYI-ASK declared war on toxicity…perhaps one should be declared on stupidity too? Certainly I have seen resource guides on topics such as the psychology of conspiracy theories, gas lighting, cognitive dissonance, herd mentality and other such topics that do touch upon some of the underlying driving forces behind such ‘Illogical and frustrating’ actions. First off, I want to introduce you to one of the few organisations that have kept me sane over the last few months - JuiceMedia. If you don't know of them, they are an Australia based group who shine a light on the ‘shitfuckery’ of the government and brilliantly use satire as a tool to educate and inform. The video below is one of their latest and charts the problems Australia has had in relation to tackling CoVID NSW’s failed Premier, Gladys Berejiklian recently whined about how getting to CoVID zero would be unattainable. All of this in light of her spiralling and out of control surge in infections and deaths in the wake of Delta. This is however an insight into her incompetence in managing the outbreak rather than it actually being impossible to attain CoVID zero. As each day unfolds there is growing dread that the NSW government is sleepwalking towards a cliff and that the premier, Gladys Berejiklian, appears reluctant or incapable of doing what it takes to stop it. I mean it SERIOUSLY it only took her 9 weeks and an infection rate consistently into the 800’s every day before she mandated facemarks to be worn outdoors. FFS. Delta is well publicised when it comes to its ability to transmit during fleeting contact - yet an adherence to known science seems beyond her. Since the start of the NSW outbreak, Victorian Premier Dan Andrews has been constantly urging GladBag to introduce a ‘ring of steel’ around Sydney. Of course, the Wicked Witch of NSW failed to do so and constantly shot down the very idea…so guess what happened? Thats right, CoVID escaped inner Sydney and spread voraciously through the state of NSW and brought about its utter collapse. Not only that, but an incursion from NSW into its neighbouring state plunged Victoria into its worst outbreak for a year and now see them now fighting back hard to stem the spread. Lets not forget either that genomic testing has shown the NSW variant is now in New Zealand! As I write this, the NSW variant is creeping towards the QLD border, now only kilometres away…how long can we hold off Gladys’s catastrophic mistakes? Time will tell, but with our increased border defence I remain hopeful. If I was suspicious, I could almost suspect that her criminal mishandling of this outbreak was purposely and politically orchestrated by her and that loathsome smirking jackass of a Prime Minister of ours as they try to bring down a couple of outspoken Labour Premiers that have fought HARD to keep their states and their economies safe. During the increasingly chaotic daily press conferences she has been grilled on many points but each time she has failed to give satisfactory reasoning and credible answers instead her response has been little more than spouting the same projecting rhetoric. Her response has been a series of slogans: get vaccinated – yes, very important – obey the rules, stay home and how she’s looking at ways we might “live more freely” beyond the end of August when the lockdown is due for review. Thats right, rather than answers, Gladys offers advertising slogans! It is becoming increasingly clear that experts have privately urged the government to act much sooner. Chief Health Officer Kerry Chant was asked repeatedly at the press conference on Friday whether she had urged the Premier to adopt such measures earlier but she did If this is true – why? The Premier maintains she always sticks closely to the health advice so she says, so why did she ignore previous requests? I strongly suspect she is following advice from Scott Morrison in stark contrast to actual medical advice being given. A brief flash of this came several weeks ago at the onset of the outbreak when Brad Hazard (Hazard by name, Hazard by nature) stated that CoVID should ‘rip’ and that we should live with it. Now that certainly seems to be the way NSW is going whether through design or utter incompetence - so was this their plan all along? Are they that appalling that they actively sought to orchestrate a situation to mirror the failed herd immunity approach of countries such as the UK? It was an experiment that Norway tried, they quickly found out that it perhaps wasn't the best way to go about things This is the approach of the lazy, incompetent and inconsistent that care little for the well being of their people and country! What a contrast between NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian and NZ Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern in their response to the COVID-19 Delta variant. Ardern: accurate assessment of the situation, immediate action, clear communication on restrictions to the population. Berejiklian: in an effort to keep the economy open, she decided not to go into a hard and fast lockdown for nearly eight weeks, has flip-flopped on restrictions and has communicated inadequately and conflictingly. The truth is NSW is facing a crisis with some potentially very serious consequences for us all. You want to know the truth though? NSW’s inability to hit zero cases isn't actually down to Delta. Let me expand, not the long ago QLD had an outbreak of Delta that was focused on a school You hear that Gladys? Anastasia and her team CRUSHED a Delta outbreak IN 8 DAYS! So don't give us that “CoVID zero is unobtainable bullshit” Meanwhile Gladys broken record of half measures and incompetence condemn NSW to a never ending lockdown and is literally destroying people and dragging Australia down with it. No, the fact that Gladys cant hit CoVID zero is down to her OWN failing and political spin as she projects blame for this debacle. It is nothing short of a disgrace! When are you handing in your resignation Gladys? Seriously, get the 'F 'out. I mean I could go into her long history of corruption and political scandal, but this post is going to be long enough as it is. Gladys Berejiklian is a complete and utter failure! And if there is ONE thing that CAN spread faster than Delta, its Scott Morrisons lies! Stupid is as stupid does. Then we move to the topic of the endless rounds of maskless protests against lockdowns, during a lockdown than only go to ensure a lockdown is extended…could someone PLEASE explain that one to me? Oh, then the assault on QLDs border over the weekend by a load of maskless protesters. Seriously, its NOT Queensland that screwed you over so stop drinking the LNP Kool-Aid. Gladys is singlehandedly responsible for destroying lives, economies, livelihoods and so much more in NSW and due to her criminal mishandling of the situation I have no idea when the end is in sight…my heart goes out to you NSW, but start using your brains FFS. Maybe this is a problem, and one that is reflected on a wider scale, in that too many people live their lives on social media and rather than get information from a reputable source they get it from what is little more than a sewer of mindless thoughts that runs unchecked on sites like FaceBook. This, along with conflicting government messaging, has only served to create a tinderbox that flares up at a moments notice and makes an already dire situation so much more untenable! While CoVID should not be politicised, it is very clear that failings in its management rest heavily on the shoulders of the LNP, while Labour run states have a habit, it seems, of putting the safety of their state first…and by doing that they preserve their economy. For no matter what BS that smirking moron, Scott Morrison might spout, WA has a thriving and very successful economy, so too does QLD. Its the states that DON’T pursue a crush CoVID hard and fast stance that screw up their economy sideways…are you reading this Gladys? Not that it should come as a surprise given the LNP seem filled with climate deniers, sexual offenders (that get promotion rather than face charges or dismissal) and levels of corruption that would put and third world African state to shame! I mean seriously, why was the Federal governments contract with Astra Zeneca quickly made subject to the national security act? (while many other countries have released the details of their contracts) It leaves you wondering exactly what the LNP has to hide? For while we can beat CoVID19, I fear there is no vaccine in the works for StUPID19 and when its being directly fuelled by the political lies and spin of the likes of Scott Morrison and Gladys Berejiklian (as well as the entire LNP as a whole) then what hope have we truly got. The unvaccinated are little more than variant factories that host home to a petrie dish of potential for the CoVID19 to mutate and potentially mutate into more efficient and deadly forms, the very real fear is that such mutational strings could create one that easily overwhelms are currently available vaccines and plunges us back into out pre-Pfizer days only this time facing down a far more aggressive and destructive enemy. On another note, the Doherty Institute which is supposed to provide modelling with regards coming out of CoVID stated that ‘whether you open up at 1 case of 800 cases a day, there is no difference with how the model predicted outcomes.’ Really? Sounds to me like more political spin and Scott Morrison garbage to me. Because I can tell you from my own experience in Microbiology/Serology that that just wouldn't be the case. If the modelling software is saying no change then the modelling software isn't working and its just yet another narrative for Scott Morrison to peddle his corrupt lies and disinformation - this is going to cost more lives. Honestly, the Doherty Institute is clearly either too weak to do anything but buckle under the idiotic demands of Scott Morrison, or they are compromised, especially when another study conducted independently from government interference paints a far grimmer but more realistic notion of what will happen if we follow the LNP's 4 stage plan to Australian destruction! One last thing. MASKS GO OVER YOUR MOUTH AND NOSE FFS. Why cant people grasp this very simple fact. Exposing your nose, exposes your stupidity and lack of understanding how the respiratory system works!

First things first. Congratulations to President-Elect Joe Biden and VP Kamala Harris Cast your mind back to the blockbuster movie sensation that was Avengers: Infinity Wars, and its conclusion Avengers: Endgame. So many parallels can be drawn between those five plus hours of cinema and the last four years. The first movie, Infinity War, represents the seemingly unstoppable tyranny of an insane monster whose ultimate goal was to obliterate half of everything. I am not the first to draw this comparison to Thanos - hell, even Donald Trump compared himself to the ‘Mad Titan’ and claimed himself to be ‘inevitable’. The four years of Trump’s presidency has been one that has cast America, dare I say the entire world, down a far darker path. A path marked by the fracturing of the human soul and the crushing of hopes and dreams we all held of a better world. Here is a man whose complete and utter ignorance, complacency and general disregard for the responsibilities of the Oval office saw a virus ravage his country, while he just sat back played golf and rampaged on Twitter spouting his nonsensical conspiracy theories. Donald Trump was never Presidential material. He is an archetypal Hollywood villain, who, like the Mad Titan, seemingly won and plunged the world into a dark pit of despair for the last four years. He endorsed hatred and segregation, he fanned the flames of division and set about dismantling anything good set in place by a previous administration. He would relish photo opportunities with vile dictators such as Kim Jong-Un, but achieve nothing of consequence from those meetings (despite his claims) - all the while his country burned around him. Violence tore through the streets as one black life fell after another. For in the Trump economy, life is indeed cheap - and some lives are deemed worthless by him and his villainous cohort and legion of nepotistic advisors - as is evidenced by his continued refusal of denouncing white supremacist movements but continually calling for an anti fascism movement to be condemned as a terrorist movement ( I guess that isn't a great surprise given Trump's fascist tendencies) But the flickering flame of hope still remained and in the darkness it was tended to by the bastions of good, people who would never give in to this tyrant. And as Trump’s darkness spread throughout the land, plans were made, pieces put in play and the great and the good assembled for what truly would have been the final battle for the human condition and the defence of democracy. This was a battle that America couldn’t afford to lose. Then we come to Avengers: Endgame. It truly was endgame too. For everything was on the line and it became a battle of justice vs injustice, hope vs hate, good vs evil. It was a battle that HAD to be won, there was no alternative. For don’t underestimate the destruction that would have been wrought had Trump been able to concrete a second term and potentially build a Kennedyesque political legacy with his self-serving clan (This danger still exists, for if Trump doesn’t decide to run in 2024, the way may be open for Donald Trump Jr, who is absolutely no better than the Mad Titan Patriarch of that family) Even now the monstrous Trump skulks in his abode plotting revenge and threatening court cases and spouting out idiotic and baseless conspiracy theories in a tirade of CAPS LOCK on Twitter. At the time of writing he shows no signs of conceding. Right now what does seem inevitable is President Biden giving the order to have the ‘great Orange Dictator’ marched out of the premises in handcuffs, and hopefully towards a slew of state court cases. Then perhaps his disgrace will be complete as the world’s media transmit the footage and publish the pictures of a bitter, narcissistic tyrant being dragged out of the house of democracy in handcuffs. Trump’s legacy is already that of being the WORST president in U.S. history, something that the forthcoming months will only set in stone. For here is a man who damn near destroyed a country for his own narcissistic, egotistical, insane and greed driven ends. For the sad fact is he has spent four years butchering the psyche of many of the American people and many I am sure will rally to his criminal cause. For while most people have now dismissed Trump, maybe we shouldn’t, for that is when he could be at his most dangerous. The people that are avidly listening and drinking every drop of the Trump Kool-Aid are those who always have - he is bolstering his base of extremist supporters. Trump knows he is done, but he isn't done sowing the seeds of discontent and he isn’t ready to give up on his plan to destabilise America utterly just yet - the truth is, his actions have NEVER been Presidential, they have been the actions of a terrorist group like Al-Qaeda, ISIS or any number of other fringe groups that seek to subvert and sabotage a country. The phrase about ‘..protecting America from threats, both foreign and domestic.” has never been truer than it is today. I implore you not to discount the very real threat Trump poses and the tragedy that will unfold if people don't see the threat until it is too late - it could happen, it has happened in the past - A hundred years ago the seeds were sown in Germany that would see a man who would hold rallies and make efforts to subvert governments, and who would ultimately be responsible for the brutal murder and horrific torture of many millions of people. The sad fact is that history often repeats itself, it is allowed to do so for as a species we seem blind to the signs that stare us in the face. Truth is I blame the Republican party for this, Abraham Lincoln would be spinning in his grave to see this - for while the monstrous Trump might have likened himself to Lincoln at every opportunity, the truth is he is nothing like him and possesses none of Abraham Lincoln’s qualities. The Republican party really need(ed) to step in and seize back control of the party from the Frankenstein monster they created - they cannot sit idly by and watch democracy derailed - does power mean so much to them that they are willing to hold onto it by whatever means possible? That is the legacy of a tyrant, the blueprint for a dictatorship - or is that a Trumptatorship. Trump has represented the greatest threat that modern-day democracy has faced in quite some time, the reverberations of his election four long, loooong years ago have rippled across this planet and given rise to - well, rise is perhaps the wrong word, but almost legitimised hate, fascism and racism. Racism is everywhere, anyone who tells you differently is a liar. It has been given legitimacy by a president that failed on multiple counts to denounce white supremacist groups, a man with no regard for life and liberty as he was all too happy to watch those he cared nothing for succumb to a virus that has to date left a quarter of a million Americans dead, and many more mourning their senseless loss - or a man content to tear families apart and to throw children into cages (they were nice cages though - he said) - wait, that sounds like the acts of a certain someone from a hundred years ago. But now the world has been gifted a second chance. We have ALL had the breath of new life and new hope infused within us with this American election victory, For the Joe Biden and Kamala Harris victory is a victory for us all. It is a step towards repairing the extraordinary damage that has been left to grow unchecked under the influence of Trump. You might think you are ‘Inevitable’ Trump But WE. ARE. IRONMAN! …and while that flame burns there will always be those who tend to it. However, at the time of writing the threat still remains. Rather than accept defeat gracefully, the tyrant monster broods in his lair and tries to plot his return. It is a clear and present danger that this man who used fraud and interference to secure his rise to the office of President could yet use it to push his way to victory again - the Russians aided him once, who is to say they won’t/haven’t done it again? Would America stand for this? Would the world stand for this? Will we see a ‘Civil War Part 2’ where those fighting for freedom from tyranny and oppression under the leadership of Biden, wage war against the insane psychotic Trump whose dictatorial claim to power should NEVER be recognised by the free world. For if the free world legitimise the rule of this tyrant then they are no better - what you permit, you promote. For me, Jan 20th cannot come soon enough, for that is the date that marks the dawn of a new world, a better way, but until that way, we, the upholders of democracy should not stand idle and complacent - we should stay ever wary for threats from the darkness and the great big orange monster that skulks in the shadows of democracy and plots his revenge. Hitler: The Rise of Evil - is a 3 hour long movie that charts the early history of Adolf Hitler, and while watching it there are so many comparable events between Hitler and Trump. For those that balk at the comparison of Hitler to Trump, I suggest that you are focused on the wrong part of Hitler’s life, for the deeper and the earlier into it you delve, the more chilling the similarities become. And so I shall leave the last word to Fritz Gerlich, a journalist whose life was lost when he stood against the tyranny of Hitler at the dawn of the Reich. “He’s not human. He’s studied people to appear human but all he's discovered is our fear and our hatred. And now we're all running toward a monster we should be running from.”

It's crazy that Borat Sagdiyev would have made a far better President of the USA that the current idiot? Yet for the last 4 years the lunatic really has been in charge of the asylum (with a danger, through corruption and deception, that he could serve another 4 years) To any and all Americans reading this. Vote...and make that vote count for something. Make that vote count for the future, not a return to the dark, racist conflicts of the past that the Trumpa Lumpa wants to recreate.

I am geographically as far from America as you could get without living on the Moon, and some days I wish I could, but on the other side of the world is the single most watched election probably in the history of elections. It really boils down to a simple black and white choice (No pun intended given the views of Trump), it really is an election of Good Vs Evil, Hope Vs Damnation - whatever your political views of Joe Biden he is infinitely a better man. After all… If Captain America along with the rest of the Avengers are supporting Joe Biden then what more really needs to be said? Seriously! So Biden is clearly the good guy here, but every good guy has to face off against an evil villain, and Biden is facing off against perhaps one of the most dangerous, unhinged and unpredictable villains that the world has ever seen. I was recently asked which Bond villain I thought Donald Trump most resembled - well for me it was a no brainer, while he has similarities to many of the most nefarious foes that Bond has faced, perhaps only one villain fully prophesied Donald Trump. I of course speak of Goldfinger, or is that President Goldfinger? Sheesh, we are living in a Marvel/Bond crossover movie, crazy times! I am really surprised that the Trump camp never thought to use the Goldfinger opening track as an introduction to his rallies etc, they really missed a step there, they lyrics are pretty spot on (I am aware of a version that has been done for the 2016 election where it made reference to the ‘alleged’ video tapes held by the KGB where they are said to have witnessed Trump…well, you can look for that one yourself, though I suspect that they wren’t taking the piss, so to speak. Anyway, why not enjoy the original and see how many Trump references you can find. “Such a cold finger Beckons you to enter his web of sin But don't go in” If only people had heeded this warning in 2016 then there would be at least 220,000 dead Americans that would likely be alive today. “Golden words he will pour in your ear But his lies can't disguise what you fear” He has this very Reverend Jim Jones capability when it comes to his rallies as there is a certain cohort of people that hang on his every crazy and often incoherent speeches. Not to mention the many ‘lie/fact checker sites that analyse his every word and since he has been in power he has told tens of thousands of lies..jeez. Then of course there’s… He loves only gold Only gold He loves gold He loves only gold Only gold He loves gold He certainly loves gold. These are shots of Auric Trump’s penthouse.. It is well known that Trump doesn’t like to lose. Who else doesn’t like to lose? You guessed it, Goldfinger. The first we meet this iconic Bond baddie he is playing cards and even then he is having to weight things to his advantage by any means necessary. On the subject of wanting to win at all costs, Auric Trump and Donald Goldfinger share yet another passion - golf. Don’t forget he had to cheat there too in order to try and win. Lets take a look at another similarity too. Trump has waxed quite lyrical about his special relationship that he has with one of the world’s most unstable and unpredictable dictator’s, someone who is a complete man-child and prone to throwing his toys out of the pram - which is scary when his toys consist of nuclear tipped intercontinental ballistic missiles. Hey, no wonder Trump gets on so well with this guy, they are like ‘brothers from different mothers’ I am of course talking about Kim Jong-Un who is a Korean that seems very loyal to Trump. I think you can see where this is going right? Hell! He even has the goddamn hat!! You can compare the similarities below. Hat - check Humourless expression - check Mentally unstable - check same dress sense - check I recall while listening to interviews that given the success of the original Goldfinger, there were plans to have Gert Frobe return to play Goldfinger’s twin brother in search of revenge for Bond killing his sibling. Ultimately that never happened but maybe the next Bond movie could revisit that notion? Trump will (hopefully) be out of the job by then and would be a perfect Bond villain and could easily pass as the more mentally unhinged and equally gold obsessed narcissistic bad guy that could give the new Bond (Tom Hardy anyone?) an equally memorable adversary, with an equally unstable henchman! I’m not American, but for once I wish I were so I could vote out Goldfinger. Do the right thing America!

I know narcissists, I know first hand the damage they cause and the ensuing chaos and turmoil they create. It’s their nature to do so, there is nothing else you can do but run for the hills - get out of their and NEVER look back! But what do you do when a country as big and ‘powerful’ as America elects a narcissist as their leader? What can you do when every single insufferable delusion is paraded on the news 24/7? Mary Trump, niece to the narcissist, is also a clinical psychologist and the author of the forthcoming "Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created the World's Most Dangerous Man." “Lying, cheating and hiding one's true feelings were all rewarded in the Trump household, Mary Trump writes, and as a result of this, these behaviours are all fundamental parts of President Trump's personality. For her uncle, "lying was primarily a mode of self-aggrandisement meant to convince other people he was better than he actually was," writes Mary Trump.” Then there’s another aspect of this deeply dangerous individual, his obsession with Abraham Lincoln and his constant comparing himself to him. Do you remember the Omen trilogy where is charted the story of the ‘Anti-Christ’ from birth and to - ahem - politics. Well, taking all the religious parallels away from this, Trump is the ‘Anti-Lincoln’! I could (and many have) written vast amounts on exactly why Trump is NOTHING like Lincoln, but lets take a look at some of the differences anyway. Lincoln was a poor man's son, a self-made man known for his personal modesty, political moderation and moral courage. Trump is a rich man's son bankrolled and bailed out by his sociopath father. Not even defenders would describe Trump as modest -- he's always been obsessed with self-promotion at the expense of substance. In politics, Trump is the opposite of moderate. He is a demagogue who demonises his opponents and tries to divide the country for political gain, increasingly along racial lines. Lincoln asked the Americans to rise "far above personal and partisan politics ... in this time of national peril." Trump couldn't even stop himself from making a pandemic response hyper-partisan. When it comes to moral courage, Trump is MIA. He filters all decisions through the prism of self-interest and ego. Trump is full of bluster, but he's quick to fold in the face of someone he fears is stronger than he is (looking at you, Vladimir Putin). In contrast, Lincoln spoke out against injustice, ended slavery and signed an act to encourage new immigrants. Trump is quick to attack the weak (Famously mocking disabled people during one of his vile rallies) and slams the door on new immigrants -- including refugees -- seeing them as a source of weakness rather than a source of strength. Even Lincoln's enemies admitted he was honest. It was a core quality that could not be credibly denied: "He was wise and he was honest," Jefferson Davis said toward the end of his life. Trump, on the contrary, has set a land-speed record for lies, with The Washington Post's running total of 19,127 lies in just over 1,200 days in office, as of June 1. Trump reflexively attacks anyone he perceives as critical. But Lincoln did not demonise people he disagreed with -- instead, he tried to empathise with his enemies as a means of reasoning with them. In the midst of a civil war, Lincoln instructed his ambassadors to "indulge in no expressions of harshness or disrespect or even impatience concerning the seceding states." Even in private, he did not attack Jefferson Davis and Gen. Robert E. Lee in personal terms, preferring to call them "Jeffey D" and "Bobby Lee." And these were people who were literally trying to kill him. Most of all, even in the midst of a civil war, Lincoln believed that there was more that united his fellow citizens than divided them as Americans and he was guided by the Golden Rule -- treat others as you would like to be treated. That simple wisdom flowed through all his decisions. Lincoln's core asset was character. "Of all the men I ever met,”General William Tecumseh Sherman said, "he seemed to possess more of the elements of greatness, combined with goodness, than any other." Lets be honest here, if Trump had lived at the same time as Lincoln he would firmly have been waving the Confederate flag - Trump has stated that the confederate flag is a proud symbol of the South - General Lee would be proud of you Donald! “War broke out in April 1861 when secessionist forces attacked Fort Sumter in South Carolina just over a month after Abraham Lincoln had been inaugurated as the President of the United States. ... They faced secessionists of the Confederate States in the South, who advocated for states' rights to uphold slavery.” While it is true that Lincoln was a ‘Republican’, the Republican party back then has far more similarities to the Democrats in the current age. Trump's hard-core supporters may laud their man's greatness, it's hard to imagine anyone (with a working brain) genuinely describing him as a good man. That's never been part of his sales pitch. Donald Trump is a one stop shop for all your personality defects. His constant referral to the COVID-19 virus as the ‘China virus’, ‘Kung-flu’ or some other equally racist derivative is grating and very indicative of the sort of person he is and where his head is at Sure, the origins of the pandemic trace back to Wuhan and there should be full transparency, disclosure and investigation into how this occurred and the subsequent cover-up within China around the end of 2019. But is China responsible for the millions of infections and nearly a quarter of a million deaths in the U.S.A? The answer to that question is a resounding NO! The responsibility for the wildfire infection rate and the catastrophic death toll (as well as the economic toll) lies squarely at the feet of the Trump administration. Thats the long and short of it. Like any Narcissist he flat out refuses to take any responsibility for the ills facing his country and proclaims himself the victim and projects ALL the responsibility to another country. Wake up! China, for all it’s faults, are NOT the ones responsible for the abysmal handling of the pandemic within the U.S. Each and every death is blood on the hands of the Trump administration, each and every infection is as a result of the U.S. governments constant mishandling and complacency where this virus is concerned. Further to this, add his down right insulting response to having gotten the virus. He claims to have been educated from having it (what, no ingesting bleach Donald?) But I can tell you from experience that you can NEVER tell a narcissist something they have no interest in hearing. Dunce Donald’s education gets an F- from me. It’s not just my assessment of this colossal idiot, lets get the viewpoint of his estranged niece Mary Trump levels especially sharp criticism at her uncle's handling of the global coronavirus pandemic, which has so far infected almost 3 million Americans and claimed the lives of nearly 130,000. According to his niece, Trump was unable to acknowledge the threat of the coronavirus pandemic early this year because "in Donald's mind, even acknowledging an inevitable threat would indicate weakness.” She adds: "Taking responsibility would open him up to blame. Being a hero — being good — is impossible for him.” The past six months of the pandemic, says Mary Trump, have revealed the president to be a "petty, pathetic little man — ignorant, incapable, out of his depth, and lost in his own delusional spin." "He'll withhold ventilators or steal supplies from states that have not grovelled sufficiently," she writes, adding: "What Donald thinks is justified retaliation is, in this context, mass murder.” Trump repeatedly complained this spring about governors he felt had given him insufficient credit for helping their states acquire lifesaving coronavirus supplies. It’s not even a choice any more. There really is only one way through this. When it comes to the coming election I for one hope that the polls actually have it right this time - whatever you think of Biden he will ALWAYS have one thing to his advantage - He ISN'T Donald Trump. Donald Trump has continually and perpetually insulted the American people and moreover the entire world. He is the biggest unnatural disaster to ever grace American soil and far from being the ‘best’ president since Lincoln, he will go down in history as being the absolute WORST! Donald Trump is a joke and punchline is even less funny now than it was four years ago. Seriously, America.

The world is in the grip of a merciless pandemic. Maybe it's one we should have all seen coming, but at every level we, as a world, have been failed by those we have entrusted to protect the health of the world and its people and to prevent the very cataclysm that we now face. It is our fault. We were asleep at the wheel. Three years ago the pieces were put in place that would see the our economies and way of life change so drastically today. We were warned. We should have done something then, but complacency took hold and we ignored the warnings. What am I talking about? Back in 2017 a new WHO director general was put in place, below are some extracts from the article. https://www.nationalreview.com/2017/06/world-health-organization-corrupt-wasteful/ "The World Health Organization (WHO), the troubled United Nations health agency, has just elected a controversial new director-general. The choice should disturb taxpayers, members of Congress" "WHO is plagued by persistent wasteful spending, utter disregard for transparency, pervasive incompetence, and failure to adhere to even basic democratic standards. None of these problems are new, but they are worsening, and the latest developments underscore the need for tough love in the form of responsible stewardship of our largesse. The May 23 election of Ethiopian politician Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus to head WHO is the latest evidence that reform won’t come from WHO itself. Dr. Tedros, as he likes to be called (he has a Ph.D. in community health), is a leader of Ethiopia’s brutal minority party, the Tigray People’s Liberation Front, a wing of the ruling Marxist-rooted Ethiopian People’s Revolutionary Democratic Front. He served the violently repressive regime as minister of foreign affairs from 2012 to 2016, after a stint as health minister. Tedros was reportedly elected with 133 of 185 votes in a third-round secret ballot, handily defeating the eminently qualified British candidate, David Nabbaro, M.D." https://nationalinterest.org/blog/buzz/china-helped-put-man-charge-world-health-organization—-it-paying-136002 World Health Organization Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus won his 2017 election with China’s backing. Tedros is now providing cover for China’s propaganda campaign denying responsibility for the outbreak. Tedros praised China’s “transparency” and said China’s response to the virus was a model for other nations, though China tried to cover up the virus’s outbreak and silenced whistleblowers. Tedros is the first-ever WHO chief not to be a medical doctor and was accused of covering up three different cholera epidemics as Ethiopia’s health minister. Tedros praised China’s disastrous handling of the pandemic as an example for the rest of the world to follow. “China is actually setting a new standard for outbreak response,” he said on Jan. 30, shortly after returning from a trip to Beijing. “Tedros apparently turned a blind eye to what happened in Wuhan and the rest of China and, after meeting with Xi in January, has helped China to play down the severity, prevalence and scope of the COVID-19 outbreak,” University of Texas-San Antonio professor Henry Thayer and Citizens Power Initiatives for China vice president Lianchao Han he wrote in a March 17 op-ed published in The Hill. The pair called on Tedros to resign, adding: “From the outset, Tedros has defended China despite its gross mismanagement of the highly contagious disease. As the number of cases and the death toll soared, the WHO took months to declare the COVID-19 outbreak as a pandemic, even though it had met the criteria of transmission between people, high fatality rates and worldwide spread.” The WHO is now touting China’s claims to have reduced the number of new infections in Wuhan to zero. But Chinese officials are, once again, fudging the numbers for propaganda purposes, a Wuhan doctor told Japanese media company Kyodo News. Tedros’s close relationship with China isn’t new. He worked closely with China during his time as Ethiopia’s health minister, and China backed Tedros’s 2017 bid for WHO director-general, media outlets noted at the time. Tedros won the election despite widely covered accusations that he covered up three different cholera epidemics as health minister in Ethiopia. Though he goes by “Dr. Tedros,” the WHO chief isn’t a medical doctor but has a PhD in public health. Just months after taking over at the WHO, Tedros tapped former Zimbabwe dictator Robert Mugabe, a notorious human rights violator, to be a UN Goodwill ambassador and only backed down after an international outcry. Washington Post columnist Frida Ghitis similarly noted at the time that China “worked tirelessly behind the scenes to help Tedros defeat the United Kingdom candidate for the WHO job, David Nabarro. Tedros’s victory was also a victory for Beijing, whose leader Xi Jinping has made public his goal of flexing China’s muscle in the world.” While Tedros has covered for the Chinese regime throughout the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, he hasn’t hesitated to criticise the U.S. and other China adversaries for their coronavirus response, as Michael Collins, a research associate for Asia Studies at the Council on Foreign Relations, noted in a Feb. 27 blog post. On Feb. 3, Tedros rebuked the U.S. and other countries such as Australia that had closed off their borders to China when it became clear that the communist nation wasn’t containing the virus’s spread. “There is no reason for measures that unnecessarily interfere with international travel and trade. We call on all countries to implement decisions that are evidence-based and consistent,” he said. Once again he put China's interests above the health of the world. The corruption at the World Health Organisation needs ripping out, root and stem. The WHO should be entirely independent of another countries influence, especially a country such as China, who "lies like the rest of us breath." The head of the WHO, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, is a communist operative ensuring that China moves in to a prominent global position superseding the West, after the coronavirus pandemic ends. Then this man HAS to be removed. The WHO HAS to be independent and free of influence. If we don't do something about this then we ARE doomed to repeat history. If the rest of the world leaders allow this insipid individual to remain in this position and allows the WHO to ignore the calls for reform and transparency - then we perhaps deserve the hell that awaits us. ~Deep Thought~
